clothing design
The futurist designs by Pierre Cardin (above) and Junya Watanabe (below) provided inspiration for a futuristic spin on Gum’s classic tennis dress sillhouette.
Johanna Parv’s “solutions for dynamic women” provided the inspiration for how to design a highly functional sportswear outfit without undermining Gum’s hyperfeminine appearance.
Gum’s helmet is reminiscent of the leather flight helmet in WWII. I redesigned this headwear based on the classic open face Vespa helmet (also known as a “jet helmet”) to better ground her style in the urban environment.
Gum’s knee pads were redesigned with transparent casings reminiscent of glass globe light shades and the Apple Pro Mouse.
